Job Description
    Our team is looking for a Human Centered Designer - Human Factor Engineer. The goal of the Human Centered Design team is to create compelling user experiences for our products while simultaneously building and encouraging an interest and proficiency in Human Centered Design methods across the organization. Our motto is to take on things that have never been done before, so our customers can “Consider it Solved”. This individual will report to the Director of Human Centered Design and be a key team member driving Human Centered Design competency across the group.
Qualifications
    • Collaborate with Emerson Product Management and Engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience. • Collaborate on the development of plans, processes, and concepts to promote and expand Human Centered Design competencies across Emerson. • Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness into complex design. • Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas • Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and stakeholders • Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards • Perform usability testing and evaluations in both a lab and field setting. • Document designs in a structured and traceable manner. • Create low to medium fidelity mockups of user interfaces. • Conduct, facilitate and document User Focus Group Innovation sessions. • Review and create use cases and user flows. • Define user requirements, and product function requirements. • Write style guides to ensure consistency and a common look and feel to our products. • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) and Systems Engineers to ensure that designs meet task and user goals.
Experience & Knowledge
    • BS/MS in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design. A minimum 3 years of Human Factors Engineering – User Interface Design experience. • Demonstrable UI design skills with a strong portfolio. • Basic understanding of software, mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering principles. • Experience creating user flows, process flows and site maps, wireframes, storyboards, Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Axure, Balsamic or other visual design and wire-framing tools • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping.
